Brothers and Sisters,

It was a rainy morning last Thursday (February 11th), when Balbir (Bill) Gill carried the Olympic torch down Shaunessey st. in Port Coquitlam as it made its way on one of the last legs of its epic journey.  But the rain could not dampen the spirits of Bill, his family or the huge crowd of friends and family that had come out to cheer him on.  And did they ever cheer him on as he lit the torch and began to run, I heard that the roar of approval and applause was deafening.

I've known Bill for many years and worked with him frequently when he used to be the local chairperson for lodge 210. He's a good Union man, who puts safety and the welfare of his Brothers and Sisters, first and foremost on the job.  With over 30 years on the track, Bill is also one of the most experienced and dedicated railroaders out there. Along with all the members of lodges 210 and 167, I am proud to call Bill my friend and Brother.

Congratulations Bill, for being a part of these historic games ... we're proud of you.

Stay safe, stay strong, stay united,

Bill Brehl
President, TCRCMWED
